Reading for Young Children
There are a number of studies that indicate the benefits of reading, particularly reading aloud to young children. Many books have been written to help children understand their trip to the Dentist. Subjects include: a child’s first visit to the dentist, losing a tooth, brushing your teeth and more.
Many of these books have familiar characters such as Peppa Pig or the Magic School Bus. The picture book, Dr. De Soto by William Steig, is a story about a dentist who is a mouse. Read what happens when Dr. De Soto helps an animal that normally eats mice.
Helping a young child know what to expect with a visit to the dentist can avoid or downplay any nervousness or fear they may have in this new experience. Our goal at Family Laser & Cosmetic Dentistry is to make visiting our office as easy as possible for you and your child.
Reading for Others
For older students and adults, there are a number of books available that review careers in the field of Dentistry. There are many professional opportunities and reading is a great way to explore the options in the dental health field.
