September is National Gum Care Month so we’re going to show a little extra love to this important part of your oral health.

Keeping Gums Healthy

Preventative measures are always best – stopping a problem before it even has a chance to start! Follow these steps to help support the health of your gums:

  • Brush and floss regularly
  • Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco
  • Keep regular dental check-ups
  • Be mindful of and tell your dentist about any health diagnoses such as diabetes than can affect gum health
  • Take note of any gum changes in pregnancy

Share with your dentist any medications you may be taking so they can determine if they are a cause for concern
