Wearing O’ The Green… Teeth?

family dentist, rochester hills, oakland county, dentist, pediatric dentistry, Mansour,

May the road rise to meet you and may the wind always be at your back.  A lovely Irish saying you may hear a festive friend share on the holiday known for the wearing o’ the green – St. Patrick’s Day. But if dentists had their own version, they might think of adding a bit about making sure your dental insurance is up to date, too!

St. Patrick’s Day is a day that is sometimes accompanied by, er, extra festive celebrating and the emotions and potential clumsiness that go along with it! Dentists see a 77% increase in emergency dental visits the day after St. Patrick’s Day. It is also one of the 10 busiest days of the year, with this post-holiday increase lasting a day or two.

Along with potential tooth mishaps, there’s another dental culprit lurking by that pot of gold on St. Patrick’s Day. With green beer, bagels, treats, and green… well, everything!… it’s quite possible you may end up with green teeth by the end of the day! Stick to the naturally-colored drinks and foods to avoid any staining with artificial dyes and leave the shamrock and mint green for your clothes.

Enjoy a safe and healthy St. Patrick’s Day!
